Joint project-based learning course
The main objective of this project is to assess and select generative AI tools for application in product development courses in HEI and develop educational materials for their proficient adoption by educators. This articulates into the development of a methodology for GenAI tool selection by educators and establishing a framework for their ethical use.
Our goal is to equip the next generation of practitioners with the necessary literacy to effectively and responsibly engage with GenAI tools. As AI literacy becomes essential, fostering digital readiness is crucial for an inclusive and forward-thinking educational landscape.
GenAI can support multiple stages of product development, including problem analysis, idea generation, prototyping, and validation. It aids in researching technical requirements, industry standards, and stakeholder needs, offering access to diverse technical solutions for optimizing product performance. The engineer of the future must also act as an eco-designer, aligning with the EU’s Ecodesign Directive (https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2024/1781/oj/eng) to optimize efficiency and sustainability. GenAI can help engineers meet these challenges, enhancing both digital and green capabilities in higher education by equipping students to drive innovation in digital transformation and sustainable design.
