GenAID 2026 – Final Event

Juni 12th, 2026|

GenAID 2026 - Final Event We are thrilled to celebrate the successful conclusion of our first joint project-based learning course of the GenAID project! The final event, held in collaboration with our industry partner Akrapovič, showcased the innovative power of combining student creativity with Generative AI. The Challenge Student teams were tasked with a real-world industrial problem: developing concepts to improve scrap material management. Their mission was to devise solutions for: Classification and separation of different scrap types Removal of contaminations from scrap material Efficient handling, storage, and volume reduction of scrap Integration of new solutions into existing production and logistics To tackle this complex challenge, students were introduced to various GenAI tools within a structured framework, a core goal of the GenAID project. They learned to leverage AI for specific stages of product development: LLMs for Context Building: To analyze the problem and synthesize requirements. Text2Image for Ideation: To quickly generate and explore [...]

AI Readiness in Engineering: Insights from IRT Forum 2026

Juni 11th, 2026|

GenAID at IRT Forum 2026: AI Readiness in Engineering and Product Development Portorož, Slovenia | 9 June 2026 We spent two days at IRT Forum 2026 sharing how GenAID brings Generative AI into engineering education and product development, and gathering fresh insights from the field. This appearance was part of our ongoing dissemination and communication activities in WP2 . What We Showcased GenAI across the development cycle: ideation, concept design, prototyping, testing, and evaluation. Practical emphasis on prompt engineering, critical assessment of AI outputs, and human-centered decision-making . Conversation around responsible adoption in both education and industry. AI Readiness Snapshot We ran a short, voluntary survey at our booth (exploratory sample of N = 5; 80% respondents from research/academia). While the sample is small, it offers timely signals on current readiness and needs. Key Findings Readiness vs. Fluency: Average organisational AI readiness scored 6.2/9; personal AI fluency scored 5.2/9. Organisations appear to [...]

GenAID KickOff

September 27th, 2025|

GenAID Kick-Off 🚀 Kick-off of the GenAID Project – Generative AI aiding in Product Development We are excited to announce the official start of GEN AID, a three-year Erasmus+ project uniting partners from University of Ljubljana, Faculty Of Mechanical Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, Technische Universität Wien, Technische Universität Darmstadt and University of Zagreb / Sveučilište u Zagrebu (FSB ZAGREB). The project explores how Generative AI can support product development and reshape higher education. 🎯 Objectives GEN AID will equip engineering students with skills to use Generative AI effectively – from prompt creation to critical evaluation – while promoting its ethical adoption. Educators will gain tools and open resources to apply these methods across disciplines through project-based learning. 🛠 Implementation In 3 years, 150 students from 5 European universities will tackle real-world product development challenges in industry-driven projects and workshops. Results and resources will be shared via exhibitions and an open-access platform. 📊 [...]
